About Gender China

Hello everyone and welcome to Gender China!

This is a virtual space where you can find information, materials, news about gender studies and, of course, China.
 

Issues of gender and feminism have become popular in both public and academic discourses more or less since the second half of the 20th century. Unfortunately, it is still extremely difficult to find references to non-European feminism in university gender studies courses.
This project aims at being a "place" for exchanging and spreading knowledge about Chinese feminist movements, expressions and theories.

Who runs Gender China

I am Cristina and my major is Chinese Language and Literature. In addition to literature, I have always been interested in politics and human rights.

This year I decided to focus on gender studies and, even though I know I still need to learn and to expand my knowledge, I decided to start an Instagram on Chinese feminism. The hope is that you will find "new" and compelling information about China's feminist movements, activism and expressions.

Since my goal is to share materials and information, the creation of this website was essential to collect articles, news and posts which texts and contents are longer and more complex than those of Instagram posts.
